THC is another cannabinoid found in the marijuana plant, and to put it quite simply, it’s the part of the plant that gets you high, thanks to its psychoactive properties. Although some CBD oil does contain traces of THC, and it has been shown to be pretty effective as an epilepsy treatment, the majority of CBD oil in the UK will be pure CBD oil, without the psychoactive compound.

We’ve been in the hemp game a long time. Over 20 years in fact, ever since our founders Henry and Glyn learned about the nutritional value of hemp seeds and started making oils and milk from it. So the word CBD isn’t new to us, but it might be for you. There’s been a lot of talk about it recently: in January that pretty reputable paper, otherwise known as the New York Times, said CBD was one of the 11 ways to be a better person in 2019, and every day there are more and more personal testimonials detailing their experiences using CBD for everything from anxiety and fatigue to eczema and inflammation. There are CBD drinks, CBD tampons and even CBD meatballs on the market (we think that’s going a bit overboard).
How do you take CBD Oil?
Yes, we think CBD meatballs are a bit of a stretch too. But you really can take it in a lot of different ways. A few droplets of CBD oil under the tongue is one of the most effective ways to take CBD, holding it there for 30 seconds and allowing it to absorb. You can also take it in your morning coffee – it’s been said to give you an extra boost of energy but kill the unnatural buzz (sounds ideal right?) or in a soothing tea at night to aid sleep. We wrote a whole blog post about the different ways you can take CBD Oil.
Science has become increasingly interested in just how effective CBD oil can be at treating a range of different conditions, and recent studies have shown it to have a positive impact on all manner of ailments. This spans anti-inflammation, repairing muscles, treating skin conditions and much more. CBD oil has also been shown to give those who have trouble sleeping a little extra help in getting their 40 winks.
Here’s how @hijessiemay uses our citrus-flavoured CBD oil to ease anxious thoughts and have a better night’s rest.
In simple terms, CBD oil or cannibidoil is a chemical compound extracted from the leaves and flowers of the hemp plant which helps your body to restore its natural balance. It works with the endocannabinoid system to activate receptors in the brain which control things like mood and temperature.
The findings suggest that CBD oil may be a suitable complementary therapy for people whose hypertension is complicated by stress and anxiety. However, there is no evidence that CBD oil can treat hypertension on its own or prevent hypertension in people at risk. While stress is known to complicate high blood pressure, it cannot cause hypertension.
In addition, the stroke volume (the amount of blood remaining in the heart after a heartbeat) was significantly reduced, meaning that the heart was pumping more efficiently.
Instead, CBD is thought to influence other receptors, including opioid receptors that regulate pain and glycine receptors involved in the regulation of the “feel-good” hormone and neurotransmitter serotonin.
Scientists believe that CBD reduces nerve pain by binding to glycine receptors in the brain that regulate the speed at which nerve signals pass between nerve cells.
Proponents claim that CBD oil can treat a wide variety of health problems, including:
In June 2018, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Epidiolex, a CBD oral solution used for the treatment of certain rare forms of epilepsy in children under 2—Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. Both are exceptionally rare genetic disorders causing lifelong catastrophic seizures that begin during the first year of life.
The tricky part is calculating the exact amount of CBD per milliliter of oil. Some tinctures have concentrations of 1,500 mg per 30 mL, while others have 3,000 mg per mL (or more).
If a hemp plant is not grown by an LP ( licensed producer ), the conditions hemp plants are grown in and whether they contain any toxins can be an area of concern. As we discussed above, since hemp has far less CBD than a cannabis plant, a significant number of hemp plants are needed to make oil. This raises the risk of contamination.
Since medical cannabis CBD oil is not vaporizable, some people may consider hemp CBD vape oil a good alternative.
Difference #4: Reliability & Regulation
Because of the differences we described above, these oils do not have the same uses. If you see a medical marijuana doctor and they think CBD is a good treatment, they will prescribe you a cannabis CBD oil.
Patients suffering from chronic pain seek this medication to get a temporary relief from the pain they have been dealing with. Not only this, in case of anxiety issues and to bring a balance in mental health problems and issues, these oils stand helpful in potentially bringing around the desired long term relief one hopes for when struggling with anxiety. It has also been noted to be very useful as a natural product for people who have sleep disorders, including insomnia.
If you’re looking to buy a CBD oil, it’s presumably because you want to get the benefits of CBD. Cannabis-derived oil is more concentrated in nature compared to hemp CBD oil and has a more effective therapeutic value.
