essential oils cbd

Part of what makes essential oils great is a group of natural compounds called terpenes. Terpenes are naturally-occurring hydrocarbons that are typically found in plants and the essential oils that they produce. They are the most common source of the aromas and flavors of the essential oils. In fact, if a plant has a distinct smell or flavor, it’s probably because of its terpenes!

At Nature’s Ultra, we use CBD isolate because it’s the most pure form of CBD. It contains 0.0% THC. It’s simply pure CBD, straight from our partner farm.

What Are Terpenes?

Essential oils and CBD make great partners because they complement each other really well. CBD interacts with your body’s Endocannabinoid System to promote homeostasis and help you feel good on a daily basis. The terpenes in the essential oils have their own unique benefits, such as creating an energizing effect, helping to soothe tired muscles, and promoting a good night’s sleep. By combining our high-quality CBD isolate with high-quality essential oils, you can ensure that each of our products are safe, potent, and effective. The result is a CBD product you can feel great about using!

Using a CBD isolate is a great way to ensure that our CBD is pure and potent, but it also means that you could lose potential benefits of the terpenes found in broad spectrum CBD. Fortunately, high quality safe terpenes can be added back in with essential oils to create a smart-spectrum powerhouse CBD oil!

We’ve talked about the different types of CBD before, but let’s take a quick refresher! First, there’s full spectrum CBD. It’s extracted from the cannabis plant with all of the other compounds, including essential oils, terpenes, and THC. THC is the intoxicating compound of the cannabis plant that can induce euphoric side effects. Broad spectrum CBD is extracted with all of the plant’s compounds except for THC. And CBD isolate is exactly what it sounds like: CBD that is isolated from all other compounds of the plant.

CB2 receptors are found mainly in the immune system 3 . They are found on the surface of white blood cells throughout the body, including muscles, skin, and vital organs. CB2 receptors are also linked to the regulation of the inflammatory system. CB2 receptors are not as widely distributed throughout the body as CB1 receptors 4 .

A lot goes into determining whether a substance is legal. It is important to start with some background.

An Example

Because Copaiba is so pure and potent—needing only a drop or two for the BCP to start affecting the human body—its price point as a potential natural solution is affordable. This becomes especially true considering the cost of most CBD products and oils on the market—products and oils that aren’t substantiating the actual amount and purity of CBD you are receiving in their product.

Because doTERRA Copaiba essential oil has approximately 55 percent BCP content, the amount of oil needed to produce noticeable results is incredibly small—only a couple of drops. doTERRA Copaiba oil is actually a blend of oils that come from four species of the copaifera tree: Copaifera reticulata, Copaifera officinalis, Copaifera coriacea, and Copaifera langsdorffii. This blend of multiple copaifera species contributes to a more potent and effective version of the essential oil.

The 2018 Act did not remove the FDA’s “authority to regulate products containing cannabis or cannabis-derived compounds under the FD&C Act and . . . the Public Health Service Act (PHS Act).” 15 This means that any product containing cannabis or cannabis compounds, such as CBD, is still subject to the same laws as any other drug or dietary supplement. This includes CBD oil. Any product containing CBD, regardless of its THC content, cannot currently be sold as a dietary supplement. 16 This is because the FDA has approved neither THC nor CBD under the FD&C Act. 17

CBD is short for cannabidiol, which is a compound naturally found in the cannabis plant family. CBD is extracted from hemp plants because it contains high levels of CBD and low levels of tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC. For full spectrum oil, the CBD compound is extracted from the plant in a meticulous way in order to extract the CBD and terpene and flavonoid compounds. Terpenes are the plant’s scent molecules, and flavonoids are the flavor molecules, which enhance the benefits of CBD. After the CBD is isolated, it’s a thick and bitter substance that is refined and tested for purity and potency standards. The CBD is then added to a carrier oil or water and flavoring to make it pleasant and easy to use or consume.

What is Essential Oil?

There are some people who can try both essential oil and CBD oil and claim that neither of them did anything. This phenomenon could be for any number of different reasons. Perhaps a person’s body chemistry wasn’t suited for CBD oil, maybe they didn’t take enough of it, or maybe they took the wrong kind of CBD product. Not everyone has the same experience with CBD oil and essential oils because everyone’s body is different.

CBD can be used as a topical essential oil by applying it to the skin for absorption. Many CBD companies already offer products specifically geared towards topical use, like serums, creams, lotions, and body oils. Using CBD oil topically provides more benefits than essential oils as it can help improve muscle, joint, and skin relaxation.
